What better way to celebrate the anniversary of your first date then spending the day shooting your engagement photos?

The past few days of February have felt like anything but winter: sunny days, 60 degree weather & plants inching their way out of the ground. So when we saw that Saturday’s forecast was “windy & in the low 30’s” we texted Ben & Allie and said: “make sure to dress warm!” While we figured it would be chilly, we didn’t expect it to be quite so harsh.

We met Allie & Ben at the famous “Illumination Mural” by Katherine Craig for a few snaps then headed down to Eastern Market. Just as we were positioning the two for a picture, a woman screams: “Did you two just get engaged!!!!” causing Allie & Ben to burst out with laughter. We laughed through out the rest of the day – either at each other or at the various mishaps that tried to steer us away from finishing our shoot – but we pressed on and ended up capturing some incredible images. We ended our day with coffee at Ashe Supply Co., one of our new favorite spots (what’s an engagement shoot without coffee, right?)
